CP-ZERO [Clip #4B]

When the door was fully up, the creation, the prototype stepped out into the open, looking directly at the test subjects.

"Oh my god... what is that?" said one of the test subjects, a woman.

The prototype then suddenly raised a gun, prompting one of the test subjects to say, "Oh shit, run!"

All eight test subjects did start running, heading for the only other visible way out of that area: a dark tunnel.

The computer monitors that had previously only shown a series of halls and tunnels began to broadcast the panicked volunteers racing through, running for their lives as the creation began to pursue. The ‘volunteers’ had no way of knowing which among their number had been targeted, and none wished to remain far enough behind the other eight to find that they had been slated for this abomination... well, no one was quite sure, but each and every one of them were currently feeling a fear deep in the pits of their stomachs that whatever it would do, it would NOT be pretty. While the prototype was beyond terrifying itself to look upon, with it’s armor and strange visored helmet, the gun it wielded was equally as terrifying.

Shoving, and nearly tripping over one another as they all scrambled in search of an exit, any exit, and the thing only continued to advance, almost casually, as if it had no need to clamor after it’s quarry. It raised the gun higher, and suddenly fired, a staccato of shots echoing down the hall, very narrowly missing one of the men currently running the gauntlet.

“Oh, shit!” Another man yelled, darting a quick glance back. “Get the fuck away from that guy! It just shot at him, he’s got to be one of the targets!” He pointed out the man that had narrowly missed the cavalcade of bullets, and the others redoubled their speed, each feeling a sick sense of joy that it had not been on of them the thing had opened fire on, as well as the nagging sense of uncertainty that they could be among the second target for that thing.

The prototype paused, and again launched a hail of bullets, again seemingly focused on the same man, who screamed as the creature’s aim proved true this time, going down in a red haze as the remaining continued to race down the halls.

As the others continued moving, the prototype reached the downed man, who was still alive, barely, staring up at it. He was trying to speak, but no words would come out of his mouth and after a moment, the prototype planted an armored foot down on the man's head, crushing his skull with a crunch, squishing as his head was almost completely flattened!!!

The remaining seven test subjects reached the end of the tunnel and found themselves in an area that appeared to be a warehouse. Not pausing, they quickly moved into the various stacks of crates and other items that littered the warehouse, hoping to hide from the prototype, still having no clue who the other target was.

The prototype then reached the end of the tunnel too, its heavy footsteps echoing through the warehouse. It paused, listening for the test subjects, able to hear their footsteps and whispering. Reaching with its left hand, it pressed a couple buttons on the box attached to its right arm before aiming and launching a small projectile that appeared to be a little bigger than a bullet. It moved as fast as bullet though, striking a stack of crates and exploding, sending splinters of wood everywhere and revealing a couple males and a female behind the crates, who quickly scattered! It didn't take any shots them though, pressing another button on the box as it began to walk again.

Quickly realizing that there seemed to be no exit or escape from the warehouse the remaining volunteers had already sought out and claimed hiding spots, and were silent with fear, the prevalent strategy seeming to be that they would hide out until the remaining target had been wiped out, and then and only then would it be safe to come out. Each of them could only pray they were not it, or that they didn’t happen to choose an unlucky spot next to the creature’s next target.

Undeterred, the prototype stalked through the warehouse, as if scanning, looking, seeking it’s next victim. Something must have set off something in it’s programming, as it suddenly raised the gun again and fired into a shelves holding several boxes, the panicked squeak of a woman ringing out as she rolled out from behind the shelf and began to run. Unlike the last nest of volunteers it had disturbed and chosen to ignore for whatever reason, the thing turned and set off after the fleeing woman, apparently the second target.

The others could only watch in mute horror as it lifted the gun again, and brought her down with a single shot. She began to crawl, mortally wounded but not quite dead yet it seemed, although that would be changing soon enough given it’s last performance. Suddenly the prototype reached for the woman and hauled her up to her feet as she thrashed and screamed, and taking her head in it’s hands it wrenched her head a quick 180 degrees, a horrid snapping sound echoing in the warehouse that was deathly silent now that her screams had been stilled.

And then, as if something had triggered some sort of satiety in the creation, it dropped the woman’s twitching corpse, and turned around without so much as another glance around the warehouse and started back down the way from which it had come, it’s mission apparently complete now. The six remaining volunteers watched in fear, and almost a quarter of an hour passed before a single one dared to stir from their hiding places.

Eventually, Scrivens, along with six heavily armed soldiers entered the warehouse. The surviving test subjects moved towards them, though didn't get too close, wary of the soldiers.

"You sick fucks!" shouted one man. "This is illegal!"

"Yeah!" chimed in another man. "You can't do this to people!"

"I think you owe us a lot more than five hundred bucks!" added a woman.

Scrivens, seemingly unphased by their words, simply said, "We would like to thank you for your service. However, I'm afraid we can't let you leave here alive, not after what you've witnessed."

Before any of the test subjects could react, the six soldiers moved into position, mowing them down with their automatic weapons in a matter of seconds!!! Inside the observation room, the surgical team and other employees watched on in horror.
