Deadblood
Stakeout
Deadblood had spent most of the previous night and that morning watching Red Spyder's mansion and the things he'd seen so far were more than a little suspicious.
For starters, at around 3:30 AM, Red came home with a woman in the passenger seat of his car. DB was sure that Red picked up the woman at some late night bar or club, but since he hadn't seen any other sign of the woman since then, he was also sure that she was either dead or on her way there.
Then at about 8:00 AM, one of Red's servants left the mansion in a car and returned about an hour later. What the servant did in that time was unknown to DB though. He wished he could've followed the servant, but he didn't want to take his eyes off the mansion either. The servant could've just been going to run a few errands for Red, or maybe he'd gone somewhere to dispose of the woman's body.
DB knew that he had to do something about Red once and for all and soon, but he needed to assemble a team to help him first and with the chief of police no longer on his side, doing that would possibly turn out to be more difficult than actually eliminating Red.
Wondering if he should get out and try to get a closer look at Red's mansion, DB dropped that idea when Red himself walked out of the mansion and looked directly at the car DB was sitting in. Had Red spotted him? It was entirely possible. Red might've been a serial killer, but he wasn't stupid either. After all, he'd gotten away with possibly hundreds, if not thousands of murders.
DB looked right back at Red, not caring if Red got a good look at him or not. Red had never seen DB without his mask on, so at the moment, he came off as a complete stranger to Red. As Red got closer, DB became more and more sure that Red was headed for him. When Red reached the edge of the street, DB started his car's engine and sped off. Looking into the rearview mirror before he turned a corner, DB saw that Red was stilling watching him, although no longer moving.
Later that day, Deadblood was sitting in a chair in his apartment, his cell phone in hand. He dialed a number, but it wasn't the chief of police's number. It was for someone else he thought, hoped, could help him out.
DB: "Hey, it's me. How's it going?...I want to cash in a favor....Yeah, I was wondering if you can get me a list of cops who, how should I say it, don't mind a little extra cash in their pockets?...That'd be great. Thanks a lot."
DB hung up. Part one of his plan to assemble a team to help him in eliminating Red Spyder was basically done. Once he had that list, then he could contact the people on it that he thought would be the most useful and willing and see if they were interested in his proposition. After that, it would just be a matter of deciding when to move in on Red.
