Charon looked up at the blood red sky and then at the towers of the castle. She took another deep breath and began to walk, she knew she didn't have to walk but it helped her think and Mortismere would feel less intimidated than if she materialised at the door to the castle.

Ten minutes later she finally reached the huge doors, she had half expected to be ambushed and was partially disappointed that she hadn't been. She reached up and took hold of the huge demons head door knocker and gave it a wallop that sent a thunderous echo throughout the castle. When no one appeared she turned the ancient door handle and pushed it open. She stood and waited for a few more minutes, expecting an attack at any moment. Again nothing. She was slightly puzzled but curious and stepped in through the doorway, the entire castle was quiet and appeared empty. The hairs on the back of her hands were standing on end as though at the mercy of a strong static electricity.

"Black magic." she murmured, almost without really thinking about what she was saying.

She stood in the enormous hallway and waited patiently....
