Charon Death
A week after the PPV
Since the night of the PPV, Angel had barely seen her mother, she noted that Charon had barely slept, instead she had taken Harkin and placed him somewhere she knew he’d be safe. Angel knew better than to ask. Darkspade had stayed with them for a couple of days mostly, Angel suspected, as protection for her while Charon was settling Harkin into his new place of safety. Brandon had stayed overnight and had already left by the time she’d got up the next day and Moebius was still in the hospital after his run in with Kizmat.
She noted that Charon had completely withdrawn from everything and everyone around her. Darkspade had tried to talk to her but she had merely just stalked away and she was finding it difficult to have any kind of communication with her. She had spent the days Darkspade stayed talking to him instead which she found weird since she realised she didn't really know him at all well but he would be training her so she figured it was important to establish some sort of common ground with him.
She watched out of the window as her mother sprinted past for the umpteenth time, she had been ticking off the sprints round the grounds for the last couple of hours since she had very little else to do. So far Charon had sprinted round the enormous grounds six times and god knows how many more times before Angel had even got up that day. Angel looked up at the clock; she had to be over at Darkspade’s manor by midday for her first day of training with him. She decided it might be wise to leave now and jog, it might show her grandfather she was keen, then again, he didn’t seem impressed by much.
Charon kept running to try and keep her mind busy or rather to stop herself from thinking about the eerie green limelight from the vortex. She was way beyond angry, Kizmat had betrayed her, and the one person she thought she could trust had thoroughly and completely betrayed her. She should have shot him when she had the chance but then he’d tried to save the kids and she wasn’t sure why. Maybe it was to try and ooze into her favour again or some other reason, maybe he wanted to be close so he could take them from her for his own use in the future.
She almost laughed to herself when she thought about it, Darkspade, the person she thought she could trust the least had turned out to be about the only one she could trust when it came down to the wire. She finally stopped. Her body was screaming at her and she doubled over breathing heavily before pushing herself back up and standing tall to get air into her lungs. There were things she had to today, things she’d been putting off. She heard the front door go, she knew Angel had her first training session with Darkspade and she walked back up to the house.
Forty minutes later she’d showered and dressed, grabbed a briefcase and was in her jet black Aston Martin DBR9. She made her way slowly to the bank and parked, climbed out slowly and looking very tired and exhausted she walked in and let the receptionist know she was here for her appointment.
