Kali shrugged.

"I guess we should start by figuring out exactly what it is that Seer wants with Kizmat, he obviously wants something from him otherwise why this charade?"

While Kali was talking Spades thoughts had gone off on a tangent and he said without really knowing why.

"Do you know why you and Charon were split up at birth?"

Kali stopped mid sentence and stared at him, a frown appeared on her face as her mind automatically took her back to her childhood. She shook her head as though trying to clear the memories.

"No. Do you think thats important?"

Spade tilted his head as he thought about it.

"Well, its always bothered me. You're twins. Physically, the two of you share the exact same gifts and abilities. Why would Seer and Mortismere only take one child when they could have controlled both?"

Kali shrugged. She'd never taken much interest in the past.

"I thought you said it was to do with Charon being born on the exact last stroke of midnight?"

Spade had now lapsed into deep thought, something he didn't do very often.

"I'm beginning to think that was just a cover, there is something distinctly different between the two of you even though you're twins. Its not something we can see. Why didn't the Evangelion program work on you?"

Kali frowned now, she was very like Darkspade when it came to having to think.

"I don't know exactly something to do with the limelight and my blood not mixing well."

The two of them sat there in a deep silence for quite some time. Darkspade began thinking out loud.

"What if the two of you have different blood types? Can that happen in twins even though you share 98% of the same DNA?"

Spade had forgotten he was talking to Kali and not Charon. Charon would have been able to give him encyclopeadic knowledge of DNA and its inner workings but Kali's knowledge was limited mostly to sex and sex toys. He began to realise it was time to phone Moebius. The man had a brain like Charon's and it was time to use it. He was startled when the phone rang as he was about to pick it up, he was even more freaked when he discovered it was Moebius.

"Spade I just received an audio file in my e-mail inbox, you need to come and hear this for yourself."

Spade put the comment to one side.

"Moebius, can twins have a different blood type even if they share 98% of the same DNA?"

Moebius was thown by the question and answered it in a slightly startled voice.

"It would depend on whether they are identical twins or fraternal twins. Identical twins always share the same DNA and blood type, they come from one egg which splits in the first two days of conception, fraternal twins are the result of two eggs being fertilized at the same time but generally even fraternal twins have the same blood type, although that doesn't always follow. Why do you ask?"

Spade looked at Kali, she was absolutely identical to Charon in every single way apart from eye colour. Spades mind made another leap.

"Did you know that Kizmat and Seer are playing kissy kissy with one another?"

Moebius was completely wrong footed now and said so.

"Spade, honestly, something weird is going on. I think all of its connected somehow but I can't figure out what connects all of this crap together. Jones has taken Charon's blood before, he's absolutely fascinated by her."

Now Spade was confused.

"When did Jones take Charon's blood?"

Moebius realised he hadn't told him the contents of the audio file yet.

"Someone sent me an audio file of Jones talking to Evangelion. I wondered why you asked about blood types, I assumed you were connecting it with Jones taking Charon's blood?"

Spade shook his head even though Moebius couldn't see him.

"Didn't you do like a million tests on our blood before with the whole Death saga thing?"

Kali still appeared to be thinking about something. She had a memory which was eluding her right now, something that hadn't seemed important at the time but now with the talk of blood she couldn't make it surface. Moebius mind was racing to join the dots.

"Yes I did but there was nothing unusual other than you all contain different strand of DNA from different bloodlines."

Kali suddenly blurted out.

"You didn't take my blood though did you?"

Spade looked at her and Moebius went silent on the other end of the phone. Spade suddenly realised she was right. They'd never compared Kali and Charon's blood side by side. Sure they'd tested the DNA but what if it was the blood that was the key, something in the blood perhaps? Moebius spoke now.

"Its possible Charon's blood contains something that Kali's does not but for the life of me I can't figure out what."

All three sat in silence for a few moments.
