Truth

Despite feeling exhausted, Deadblood now knew a good deal of the mystery surrounding Red Spyder and the woman who seemed to currently be living with him. DB had followed her around the city for a lot of the night after he saw her leave Red's mansion in one of his cars, witnessing her brutally murder several people, including the chief of police and his wife.

Under other circumstances, he probably would've felt bad about what happened to the chief and his wife, but when DB came to the chief for help, he'd denied DB the help he requested, forcing him to go elsewhere and use what would be considered illegal methods to get what he wanted. So the way he saw it, the chief and his wife became examples of why the chief should've listened to and helped DB. And although it was true that they'd died by the hand of the mystery woman, who DB hoped to soon identify, he was certain that she and Red were partners in crime.

Seeing her killing people answered so many questions, like why Red had yet to end her life, as he was known for doing to most women he got involved with, and DB was pretty sure that she was Red's copycat who'd been such a problem for the city in recent times. Now he'd have to stop her too, which would probably be easy, if he didn't have to go through Red first. He figured that Red might actually care about her, so he'd probably try to protect her at all costs.

If he could turn them against each other somehow though, it might make things easier for himself. He'd have to think about how he could go about doing such a thing, but that thinking would have to wait until later, because at that moment, he really just wanted to get some sleep. Normally, he'd be too excited about the kind of information he'd just learned to fall asleep. He'd been awake for nearly forty-eight hours though and there were very few things in the world that would be able to prevent from sleeping. And he was about to find out what one of those things was.

He started his car engine, but before he do anything else, there was a tap on the window of his door. Looking up, he half expected to find Red standing out there. Who he saw though was someone he didn't know personally, but they were vaguely familiar.

Making sure his handgun was within reach, he rolled down his window.

DB: "Yeah? What do you want?"

????????: "You're Deadblood, correct? We should talk."

DB almost pulled out his gun right then and there to prematurely end the conversation.

DB: "How the fuck do you know who I am and, better yet, who the fuck are you?"

????????: "I'm FBI Special Agent Stanley Corrigan."

Corrigan took his badge out and showed it to DB.

DB: "Oh, I remember you from that show that was on a few nights ago."

Corrigan: "Yes, that was me. After that aired, someone sent in some information about the possible identity of the Chainsaw Killer and I'm here now to look further into that information."

The informant had been, of course, Reverend Jones, although neither Corrigan nor DB knew that.

Corrigan: "Among the many things I know about you, I know that you've been performing your own little personal investigation or whatever you want to call it against the Chainsaw Killer and since you happen to be parked outside of the mansion of the FBI's now main suspect in the case, perhaps me and you can trade information and work together on this."

DB: "Well, I'd like to, but right now, I'd rather just go home and sleep. You can c-..."

Corrigan: "I think it would be best for us to...get acquainted right now. You can sleep later."

Without saying another word, Corrigan walked around to the other side of DB's car and got in. DB simply sighed. He was too tired to put up much of an argument and he sure wasn't about to shoot an agent of the FBI.
