Deadblood (Absolute & Mortal Champion)
Alone Time
Deadblood swam to the surface of the liquid after getting over the initial shock of landing in it. He spit some out of his mouth and started coughing and belching, trying not to vomit. The smell seemed even worse in there than in the rest of the sewer. Fortunately, the liquid seemed to be water rather than sewage. He hoped it was storm water.
Not wanting to think about it any further and not wanting to waste time doing so when he had no idea where CP-ZERO was in that dirty water, DB swam to a wall where the water was shallower and his feet could touch the bottom.
"Hope there aren't any alligators in here," he said to himself. He could hear water trickling in the distance along with the occasional splash. Probably rats. Hopefully.
No sign of CP-ZERO. He might have wondered if the fall destroyed it, if it hadn't survived leaping off the balcony of the hotel to the concrete around the pool.
DB was sure that Sheri was looking for a safer way to get down to where he was. He had no idea how easy that would be. There was probably a hatch and ladder somewhere that led to that area of the sewer, but if she knew as little about sewer systems as he did, she'd only find it through blind luck.
On the other side of the chamber, a figure emerged from the water. He could immediately tell that it was CP-ZERO. It immediately looked over at him. It saw him and he knew it. Rigidly, it started moving through to water to reach him. When it disappeared under the surface, he reached for his katana to find it gone. So was his Desert Eagle.
"Shit." Deadblood started moving, hoping to somehow stumble onto one of his weapons.
Before he got the chance to find them, a strong hand grabbed his ankle and pulled him under the water. DB struggled against CP-ZERO's grip, not wanting to drown in a fucking sewer. He quickly raked his hands across the bottom of the disgusting chamber, feeling dirt, nails, broken glass, and other things that he again didn't want to think too much about. He also found a piece of steel rebar. Holding it tightly in both hands, he jabbed it into an armor-free portion of CP-ZERO's arm.
Instead of trying to drown DB, CP-ZERO pulled its arm of up, flinging him across the chamber into one of its concrete walls. DB immediately collapsed back into the water. His whole body ached after colliding with the wall and he wouldn't be surprised if he broke a bone or two, but he knew CP-ZERO wasn't going to stop just because he was in pain.
Somehow, he managed to keep his hold on the piece of rebar, which he raised when he saw CP-ZERO making its way to him again. He pressed himself against the wall as the cyborg disappeared underwater once more. He hoped to stay out of its grip to force it to reemerge before it could attack. As soon as the top of its helmet popped out of the water, he swung the rebar down, the metal rod cracking hard against the metal armor. DB didn't stop there, swinging down several more times, heavily denting the armor and to his surprise, CP-ZERO went limp, floating back through the water before sinking lifelessly.
He waited for CP-ZERO to come for him again. It didn't happen. A moment later, a grinding sound behind him startled him, causing him to drop the rebar into the water. He turned around to see a large, old, rusty door slowly sliding open.
