As if we needed anything else to keep us there.

Deadblood, Sheri, and their escort continued down the hallway, the tile floor under their feet chipped and dirty, looking as if it hadn't been cleaned since the day the hotel opened. Deadblood was pretty sure that some of what was smeared on the tile wasn't dirt at all, able to make out thin, very dark red streaks in the dried patches of mud. A moment later, they reached a room with '4' on the door. Stopping outside the door, the guard knocked and spoke in Spanish to the people inside the room before using his key to open the door. Deadblood and Sheri remained behind him, still holding the bags of guns, ready for anything.

When the door was open, they saw that three more guys were inside. More words in Spanish were exchanged between the guard outside and the three inside. They then stepped aside and the guard who had escorted them from the airfield to that room pointed with his finger.

"Enter," he then simply said.

Deadblood and Sheri did as they were told, the guard following them into the room, closing and locking the door behind them. That guard and one of the other three stood behind Deadblood and Sheri while the other two stood in front of them. A fifth man then approached from the other side of the room, a glass of tequila in one hand. He was clearly the one in charge of that particular cartel group, dressed in what was an expensive suit and tie.

"Are you La Espina?" Deadblood asked, he and Sheri still firmly holding the bags of guns.

Grinning, La Espina replied with, "I am. And since you know my name, what might yours be?"

La Espina looked over at Sheri as he waited for an answer, his grin getting wider as his eyes looked up and down her body. He then took another sip of tequila as he turned back to Deadblood.

"Our names don't matter," Deadblood said, instantly wiping the grin from La Espina's face. "You know who we work for and that's all you need to know."

La Espina glared at Deadblood, also clearly not a man who was often denied any request he made. Sheri turned her head to look at them, wondering if things were about to turn sour already, but then La Espina grinned again and let out a small chuckle before sipping more tequila.

"I suppose it doesn't matter," La Espina finally said before nodding towards his guards.

The two guards behind Deadblood and Sheri began to frisk them, removing their concealed weapons, handing them off to the other two guards who set them on a table on the other side of the room, near a window that was partially open. La Espina then turned around and approached the table, the four guards keeping their eyes on Deadblood and Sheri, looking down at their weapons for a moment before picking up Deadblood's katana with his free hand. Examining the blade and then the handle for a moment, he turned back around to face everyone else.

"Set the bags on the bed," La Espina said, pointing towards the bed with the katana.

Exchanging a glance with Sheri again, Deadblood then said, "That's not how we do business. I don't see your money. Bring that out and then we'll let go of these bags."

La Espina lost his grin again, clearly becoming frustrated with Deadblood's refusal to do exactly as he wished. Deadblood realized that La Espina was becoming frustrated too, but he wasn't about to just let this asshole run off with the guns without paying for them. Yet his frustration also made Deadblood and Sheri feel nervous with concern over what La Espina might try if he was refused too many more times.
