It was well after midnight and she was close to dozing off on the couch when she heard the key in the lock turn. She sat up straighter as the door swung open, revealing just the person she’d been waiting for.

“I suppose I should congratulate you on your victory, but I think we both know that’s not why I am here.”

Deadblood’s hand immediately went to the katana, narrowing his eyes. “Who the fuck are you, and what are you doing in here?” She brought her hands up, showing that they were empty. Of course it didn’t matter that she held no weapon, but she was hoping it would be enough to show him she meant no immediate harm. She hadn’t expected him to remember her, after all.

“Come in and close the door, and lets talk.” She said, hands still up where he could see them. “It’s been a long time. You look good, like work has been treating you well. No more mishaps like that Colombian job a few years back?”

He still held the katana, but she could see the recognition begin to grow slowly, both at the mention of Colombia and as his eyes adjusted to the dim light.

“Seriously, come in and shut the door. I just want to talk.”
