Why not? I would have brought you a gift!

Nodding, Deadblood slowly sheathed his katana, though he kept his eyes on Sheri. They might have once trusted each other during their little trip into Colombia, but things were different now. Weren't they? She was there to make sure he did his job, as if he was some untrustworthy employee who constantly failed to fulfill his contracts. Could it be because of his past connection to CW? Maybe, but even so, that also meant that things were different now, between the company and himself.

"While I suppose that me going home with a new title does deserve some kind of explanation," Deadblood said, motioning towards the Absolute Undisputed Championship as it sat on the table, "I find this to be completely unnecessary, not to mention absurd. If the company really thought that someone needed to make sure I fulfilled my contract, then why would they give it to me to begin with?"

Deadblood sat down in a chair near the sofa and coffee table, still keeping his eyes on Sheri, though also relieved to be sitting down after his long night. She could tell that he was scrambling to get out of explaining himself to her and he knew it. He realized that perhaps winning the championship hadn't been the wisest choice on his part, but he also meant what he said about the current situation being unnecessary and absurd. Personal gain had never been an issue during past jobs. What an employee did along the way to fulfill a contract was that employee's business.

"Well, the way the company apparently sees it, as do I," Sheri began, "this is completely necessary. So why don't you stop beating around the bush and explain what the hell you were doing tonight."

Deadblood sighed as he stood up and went over to his fridge, taking a bottle of beer out for himself, finally taking his eyes off of Sheri, though her eyes were on him like a hawk. He then returned and sat back down, taking a sip of his beer before beginning.

"Look, I couldn't have done the job there anyway, not in front of that crowd. And I didn't really get a chance backstage either. But in winning the title, I'm hoping it'll give me the opportunity to carry out the contract." He took another sip of beer before continuing. "Is that okay with you? Or should I just wait until I'm in front of a crowd again so I end up with the police after me?"
