Deadblood thought about the question for a moment. It was a good question, there was no denying that. He did have his reasons for not killing Sheri that night.
When he finally did answer her, he said, "If I had decided to end our fight right then and there, what would I have really gained from it? I would have won the fight and you would have stopped trying to kill me. But that wouldn't change anything else."
"How do you mean?" Sheri asked, taking a sip from her fresh glass of beer.
"Because I would still have a match at Creaturemania and I would still have to deal with retaliation from the company. I didn't know for certain if I'd be able to convince you to help me, but since I was able to, you get to live and things will be a little easier for both of us."
"Easier for you, you mean," Sheri commented. "Since you spin it that way, I guess you would have killed me anyway if I hadn't agreed."
"Maybe," Deadblood said before taking a sip of his beer, his answer causing her to raise an eyebrow. "I think you're a competent fighter. And you're right about what you said. The Absolute Undisputed Championship is an accessory for me as far as the powers that it gives me goes. If I do somehow lose it at Creaturemania, having you with your powers, and skills, on my side will be a very helpful for both of us I think."
Seeing someone moving close to their table,a man who appeared to be alone at the bar, Deadblood adjusted his Desert Eagle under the table to aim at him, waiting to fire though, wanting to be certain that the man was actually up to anything other than drinking. And that turned out to be all that he was up to as he sat down at a nearby table that two other people were already sitting at. The other two, a man and a woman, had been sitting there since before Deadblood even arrived at the bar. He relaxed the gun slightly as he turned his attention back to Sheri.
"I think not knowing what will happen at Creaturemania or what the company might do makes it even smarter to have played it safe as far as the not killing each other thing goes," Deadblood said. Taking another sip of beer, he then added, "So, do you really believe they'll send out one of those super soldiers?"
