“Your guess is as good as mine. While in a way I think that sort of thing is not quite ready for production just yet, I know a lot of money was being thrown at the project the last I heard. And why not?” Sheri took another swallow of beer before continuing thoughtfully.

“What better way to ensure that you have only the best working for you than by building them from the ground up, so to speak? Why bother employing multiple people with various skill sets when you can engineer something that could do the job just as well or better than any one of us could and to top it all off not have to worry about things like employees going rogue and contracts not being carried out? You take human nature out of the equation, and that is no longer a concern.”

“That’s one way to look at it. You don’t have to worry about something like that biting the hand that feeds it, for sure.” He replied, glancing across the room as a patron stood up and reached for his coat ostensibly heading to pay his tab and nothing more sinister than that although the movement had caught Deadblood’s eye.

“Even if they are not exactly ready to start cranking them out, there are plenty of other worrisome things they could have waiting in the wings. You and I were not their only talents, Deadblood, think about that. I wonder now, if they didn’t intend for me to fail, and it was just my punishment for not dealing with you swiftly enough to their liking. Maybe they thought you’d finish me off, and think you’d walked away scott free only to send someone else out to finish the job. I don’t know what to think anymore really.”

“If that was truly what they intended, then the joke is on them.” Deadblood couldn’t help but point out.

“At any rate, I’m sure we’ll be seeing or hearing something from them soon. Especially with Creaturemania coming up. You know, where we’re both gonna walk out there doing the equivalent of holding up a giant sign saying "Hey, we’re right here."? Maybe they are just waiting.”
