Room for one more, honey...

“How.. wh-.. SHIT!? What is this fucking thing made of, I don’t understand how it just won’t stop!” Sheri hissed, unable to believe that the creature had emerged from the rubble at all, albeit not unscathed. Deadblood didn’t have an answer for her at the moment, he was just as surprised that their assailant had managed to keep coming, like some demented version of the Energizer Bunny. While it was far from pink and furry, and it didn’t beat out a rhythmic tattoo on an oversized drum, there was no denying that it kept going, and going, and going...

“I don’t have a fucking clue either, but look Sheri, it’s not completely undamaged. That thing will fucking crack, it’s just a matter of applying enough pressure!’ he replied, as he continued to back away from the crater, Desert Eagle at the ready.

“If an explosion like that only left a few dings and dents, just how much more pressure you think we could possibly exert here, Deadblood!? It’s like some kind of freaky metal-encased zombie, it just won’t let up! It’s gonna head back up here, what do we do? It’s not gonna stop!” Sheri’s voice rose higher in frustration and fear, the apparent futility of fighting here beginning to weigh down on her. If it could shrug all of that off and keep coming, what could they possibly do?

“Look, this isn’t the time to talk that way! I swear, we can beat this thing, but I need you to calm down and focus! It’s down there, we’re up here, we have some time! But if you are gonna spend that time thinking about how fucked you think we are, then you might as well just sit down and wait for it to catch up!”

She had to admit he was right, as impossible as the situation still seemed it would accomplish nothing to just admit defeat right now and not even try to at least put some more distance between them and the thing that was even now extricating itself from the rubble below, and would soon be hot on their trail.

Deadblood looked to the left, spotting an elevator a little ways down from them. Taking the elevator to the ground floor where CP-ZERO was would be foolhardy if not outright suicide, but what about heading in the other direction?

“Sheri. The elevator...” He whispered, as if it could somehow hear her down there. She gave him an incredulous look in return.

“What about it? You have a sudden hankering to listen to shitty elevator music or something? You really are crazy.” She snorted, shaking her head.

“Ha. Look, the elevator is gonna move faster than our friend down there, and if nothing else we could definitely use all the distance between us and it that we can get right now.” Deadblood replied, starting off for the elevator quickly, leaving Sheri to trail after.

“You planning to go up then? That thing is down there, and while I don’t wanna meet up that hideous son of a bitch any sooner than I have to, you really think going up is gonna solve our problem here? If we could get down there, at least we could make a break for it. Up on the roof, there is no where to go but down, and probably not in a very pleasant way.”

“You have a better idea? Come on, it’s worth a shot and better than standing around waiting on it. And there has to be a ladder or stairs or something up there anyway, it’s not like we’d be trapped like rats or something.” He answered as they approached the elevator.
“You really are crazy...” Sheri repeated, as she followed him to the elevator. “But you make crazy work pretty damn well from what I’ve seen, so let’s do this.”
