The first cops who arrived at the parking garage after the battle that took place there that evening were still trying to figure out what exactly happened, when CP-ZERO dragged itself out from under the elevator car that Deadblood and Sheri Stull attempted to crush it with before forcing open the elevator shaft's doors on the ground floor and escaping from the elevator shaft.
Aside from some scratches and more dents in its armor, it appeared to be pretty much undamaged still. There was a crack in the glass of its vision enhancer and there seemed to be a loose wire or other minor damage to the device. Nothing that would prevent it from continuing its mission.
"CP-ZERO, report!" said the voice of Derrick Scrivens through the implanted radio. "Is there any sign of the targets?"
Scanning the area, it replied in a monotone voice with a simple,
"Negative."
Seeing the flashing lights of the cop car parked near the entrance of the parking garage, it moved slowly towards it, watching both of the cops as they looked over the burning remains of the limo. In the distance, it could hear more sirens, but closer, on the radio inside the car, suddenly came a voice.
"Calling all units," the voice of the dispatcher said.
"Reports of a 415 at 528 Main Street. Officers requested."
The two cops were still distracted with the limo, not paying any attention to the radio and therefore, also not hearing another voice on the radio just a moment later saying,
"This is Captain Mooney. The 415 at 528 Main is already being investigated. I repeat, the 415 at 528 Main is already being investigated. Any available officers are ordered to continue on to the Spectrum. Over and out."
While the cops wouldn't dare disobey an order from their captain, CP-ZERO was able to see through that thinly veiled lie. The captain must have been very eager to keep cops away from that location to come onto the radio himself. A couple cops were likely at the location who were being paid a little bonus, courtesy of
the company, to keep whatever the situation was from being interfered with and it seemed likely that the situation involved the two targets. It had to be, on that night in that city.
When the two cops finally turned back to their car, CP-ZERO was already gone, heading to the location on foot. It wasn't far from the arena.
At the bar, CP-ZERO kept its distance. The targets didn't seem to be there anyway, but over the surrounding buildings, it could see smoke rising high into the air. They hadn't gone far. Scanning the street, it noticed the damage left behind by the fight that had occurred there. It seemed more and more likely by the second that it was on the trail of the targets and that someone or something else had attacked them. It was unaware of who or what that might be, but it would find them.
Scanning the area further, it noticed some blood near the entrance of an alleyway and so it headed into the alley, discovering the broken glass and more blood. And then it came across the janitor of the department store, who seemed to just be waking up. Reaching down, CP-ZERO wrapped one large, armored hand around the man's throat before dragging him up! The man quickly woke up the rest of the way, struggling, unable to make any sounds, his airway completely cut off!!! He then felt its hand get tighter, until there was a crunch as his neck wasn't just broken but crushed by its hand!!!!!!!
Tossing the janitor's body inside the doorway, CP-ZERO stepped inside too, shutting the door. Scanning the dark room, it noticed a short row of metal lockers against one wall, which it proceeded to grab and drag in front of the door, which would make it difficult for anyone who might want to leave through the door.
Hearing shouting, it continued, moving down a hallway and finding itself in the main area of the store, now able to see the source of the smoke: a fire that covered a good portion of that floor of the store. And near the fire was a man with two guns, but it wasn't Deadblood.
