Charon stood and watched. Why in hell's name had the energy pulled her here?

She knew something had gone wrong with the program and knew it was most likely crashing and that would mean a serious energy drain for her but she had no idea what sort of consequences it would have for Spade, they'd never tested it fully with someone piggy backing the main energy.

She watched the scene and remembered it well, even now she wished she had smashed Damien's head through the wall rather than smile sweetly and pretend to like him.

The scene shifted several times incredibly quickly, she just had enough time to grab Spade. It shifted another three or four times, it was hard to tell because of the speed and finally ended up in Mortismere's throne room, she could see him pacing but her vision was beginning to blur as her energy started to drain.

She concentrated on Augustus, willing him to check his computer and re-boot the program.

Spade stared hypnotically at the scene in front of him, not realising that Charon was already in serious trouble. She could feel her legs beginning to go weak and her grip on Spades arm was loosening. She couldn't let him go, what if the scene shifted again? Would he get lost in the program, or would he be trapped in the space between dimensions? She didn't know but Augustus would.


Augustus heard the alarm go off as soon as the program crashed, he rushed to the control computer he had built in his room and sat down, shoving the mouse to clear the screen saver from the monitor. He accessed the mainframe remotely and swore when he saw that two energies were piggy backing. This wasn't going to be easy. What the hell did Charon think she was doing? He hadn't designed the program for two energies, the overload had caused it to crash.
He pulled up the program code and added in the patches for it, he set it running alongside the crashed program. He then started up a second program and set it to integrate the crashed program and the newly patched version. It seemed to take an eternity, he pulled up Charons vital signs in a separate window and noted that her energy was draining far faster than when the program crashed last time, he used the program to pull up Spades vitals and noted that his energy was also draining but not out, it was draining towards Charon, who seemed to be absorbing it. It was a phenomenon he'd never seen before, Charons energy was draining fast but was also slowed by absorbing Spade's energy which was draining but not outwards, which is what it should have been doing - weird.

Finally, the two programs merged, the crashed program began to stabilise and he initiated the return command. He also started up the emergency room and made an urgent call to somewhere outside the mansion.
