Charon Death
Match continuation.....
....Gojinn held his breath and in desperation scrabbled around in the murky water for a weapon, any weapon! His hand closed around a large metal pipe and with every last ounce of strength he struck upwards towards the shadowy figure looming above him. He felt rather than heard the loud crack as the pipe hit Charon right across the top of her skull rendering her incapable of holding Gojinn under the water. She staggered for a couple of seconds, splashing and stamping in the water before dropping to her knee's, the murky water lapping around her chest.
Gojinn pulled himself up out of the murky water in time to see Charon sinking down into it, stunned but not unconscious. He grinned and wrapped the pipe around her skull a second time, this time she went down face first. Part of him wanted to hold her under that inky black water but another more moral part of him told him that it wasn't fair - fuck that, his brain told him, life's not fucking fair and lets face it, she'd hold you under there and drown you, put your boot on the back of her head and rid yourself of her annoying presence.
He was about to do just that when Charon seemed to rise in front of him with her own weapon, it was a long metal night stick.
The lightning that had been streaking the sky now started to hit close by the pool and surrounding buildings, it was almost as though it was maliciously attempting to destroy the whole area. The two of them stood there in the water silhouetted at frequent intervals by the lightning bolts and strikes. Charon struck Gojinn in the shoulder with the nightstick and Gojinn retaliated by smacking her in the thigh with the metal pipe. They then literally waded into each other, Charon managed to strike Gojinn across the chest before he managed to wrap the pipe across Charon's throat, pulling hard into a choke hold. She turned her head to release her windpipe and struck through her own legs and upwards into Gojinn's groin, he released the choke and Charon grabbed his arm and hauled him forwards over her shoulder and they both landed with a huge crashing and splashing in the now frigid water.
Gojinn rose first spitting and choking out the mucky water, shaking his bedraggled hair out of his eyes and trying to scout round to see where Charon had disappeared to. She wasn't too far away and rose out of the water like a wraith and as they tried to hit each other at the same time they were both hit at the same time by a huge lightning bolt which had decided that it wanted to earth itself on their metal implements that were currently held high in the air.
A massive flash, followed by a loud crackling and short, sharp bang and then in the ensuing chaos two bodies could be seen being flung backwards in opposite directions.
The technicians working inside the mansion were flung back as their monitors and electrical feeds exploded in the surge. Much cussing ensued before the emergency power generator in the mansion kicked in, showing that this often happened in this area. The referee who had been trying to watch the match and decide on a winner and who was now dressed in full storm gear had to find a technician and get a large search light to find out what had happened to the two wrestlers. He ran back to the pool with the portable search light and trained it into the black hole that had been the pool. Steam was rising from what had been the deep end of the pool, he coughed as silence began to descend on them - the calm before the storm.
As the beam flickered impotently around the inside of the pool, sirens began to filter through the thunder rolling across the sky. One of the technicians had, had the intelligence to realise that paramedics would be required regardless of what powers both wrestlers had.
When the lightning had hit, Charon had felt the surge working its way through every molecule of her body and it seemed to vibrate and she felt as though every atom was about to come apart and in essence thats exactly what had happened though only for the smallest millisecond. She felt as though she had been lifted by a giant hand and thrown at great speed, she knew she had cleared the pool and then there was blackness.
Gojinn had also been lifted and thrown, he had felt his ankles clip the edge of the pool before being deposited outside the pool somewhere. He didn't know where he was, he wasn't even sure he was conscious until he heard the sirens.
Charon had no way of knowing how long she'd been out of it, she felt as though she was on fire and could smell burning. She opened her eyes but couldn't see anything but she knew she too could hear sirens coming ever closer and then there was a light and lots of shouting and general noise mixed in with the booming of the thunder and sheeting rain.
The referee in reality had only taken seconds to realise that the two wrestlers had been blown clear of the smoking pool and started making a search of the ground near the pool. The lightning had made it difficult to discern exactly where the two had been thrown. He found Charon first and at first glance wondered whether she was even alive, her wrestling attire was completely shredded and every inch of her seemed to be covered in a film of blood, mud and charred flesh. It was at this moment that the paramedics and firefighters arrived at the same time, technicians were scurrying around trying to rig up some temporary outdoor lighting to make the search for the two wrestlers easier. The paramedics descended upon Charon with well practiced speed and efficiency. A couple of firefighters were dispatched to search for Gojinn, just a couple of seconds later they found his still smoking body resting up against the trunk of the tree blown down by an earlier strike of lightning. He was blinking but seemed totally unaware of what was going on around him.
In the midst of all the chaos one of the technicians took the phone call demanding to speak to the referee. The poor man ran into the mansion and took the phone.
"What the fuck is going on? Why's the link gone down?"
The referee was stammering as he recognised the CW owners voice.
"Sorry...lightning. Charon and Gojinn blown up, paramedics everywhere...shit!"
The voice was cold and level.
"I don't care if they killed each other. What is the official decision on this match?"
The ref was at a loss, it was technically a draw, neither wrestler was fit to continue. He opened and closed his mouth a couple of times.
"Its a draw sir, a draw. Neither wrestler can continue at this present moment in time."
"Good."
The line went dead and the ref just stared at the receiver in shock.
"What an asshole."
It was a fact not an expression and he watched through the window as the two wrestlers were rolled onto stretchers and loaded into separate ambulances and as the vehicles lights disappeared down the long driveway he looked at the mess the lightning had caused inside the mansion. He spoke mostly to himself rather than anyone else.
"I suppose I better get a brush and make a start on clearing this fucking mess up."
It took them all four hours to clear up and pack away the gear, by then the storm had blown itself out and both wrestlers were on life support machines at specialist hospitals.
