Charon Death
Perfect programming....absolutely not.
Charon stood and looked straight at Eva, intersting, it was functioning partly without its programming. She felt the vibration of her phone that was locked and encased in a waterproof casing and shoved unceremoniously down the side of her boot. It had been vibrating on and off for the last ten minutes. She ducked down and took it out and pulled off the waterproof covering. She unlocked it, all the time watching Eva and moving when the need arose. It was Augustus with a message telling her to open her e-mails. She eyed Eva warily as it stalked her slowly round the ring. She waited as the e-mails downloaded to the cell phone, she opened the one with Augustus home e-mail, there was a link which she selected and the phone seemed to go blank for a few moments as it looked for a wi-fi connection then it loaded up the page. All it said was "GO"
Charon stared at the command for a second then selected it, the wi-fi icon flashed consistently as it sent whatever it was sending. She locked the phone and shoved it back in her boot, just as Eva went to strike, Charon moved again. Eva was struggling to keep its balance in the uneven ring and then Charon noticed something else, Eva's eyes had begun to cycle permanently between lime and red and its movements became ever more erratic as though its programming had gone on the fritz and it was trying to go against the rogue programming.
Charon realised now was the time to strike, she ran behind Eva and shoved it into the waterlogged end of the ring, it stumbled and slowly splashed deeper instead of backing away. It was definitely in inner turmoil. Charon dropkicked Eva from behind, this time the cyborg fell face down into the water. The damaged faceplate letting water into some of the electronic circuitry, it fizzed and popped but Eva still managed to get up, albeit by using the ropes as a guide. This was it.
Charon barged at Eva and sent it crashing uncontrollably over the top rope and into the icy waters. It struggled like it was drowning, it had no programming to tell it what to do and now Charon was faced with a dilemma. She had just won and should by all means be celebrating but the thing was struggling to survive. Its head bobbed under the water several times and Charon wasn't sure but she could have swore she could hear the thing screaming, whether with fear or anger it was hard to tell.
Without thinking about what she was doing, she dove into the icy waters and grabbed Eva by the back of its ring attire and swam with it to one of the plastic platforms on the side of the dome where a couple of referee's and technicians were waiting to help pull them both from the water.
Water had gotten into Charons cell phone and cut off the wi-fi signal. Eva's eyes went red and then the thing disappeared into thin air. Charon took a deep breath as she sat on the side of the platform.
"Nice. Not even a bloody thankyou."
