You're good doc, real good. But I know all the moves, I could squash you like a bug.

“Deeeeeaaaaadblooooooood,” He heard Sheri’s voice echoing off the walls in the darkness, seeming to come from everywhere at once, impossible to pin down her location. “Come on, Champ, what’s the matter? You scared of the dark or something?”

“Not as scared as you are going to be when I catch up with you.” he retorted, eyes scanning the dark basement for any sign of his opponent. The door suddenly banged shut behind him, shutting out what little light there had been to see by, leaving him in utter darkness. He fumbled for the door, only to find it held shut as if the lock had again engaged of it’s own will. He heard Sheri laugh, somewhere down in the darkness.

He started down the stairs cautiously, only for the metal steps to bang loudly and violently as if they were being pounded on by hundreds of phantom fists, the noise almost deafening. Sheri continued to laugh, echoing madly.

“You fucking bitch, you can play all the head games you want, but when I catch you it’s over. And I will find you, it’s only a matter of time. You think you’re clever, but all you’ve done is dig your own grave here. You won’t be leaving this basement, not alive anyway.”

“Funny, I was about to tell you the same thing.”

Just then Deadblood felt a downpour of freezing cold water pour down from overhead as if someone had turned a fire hose on him full blast. He grabbed for the rails, realizing after a moment that she’d shattered a pipe above them, and focused on making it to the bottom of the now very slick stairs.

The pounding stopped as he reached the ground, the basement now eerily silent
besides the sound of rushing water. Deadblood held the katana ready, eyes slowly adjusting to the gloom. There was no sign of Sheri, although he knew she had to be ensconced in a shadowy corner down here somewhere. Every nerve on edge, he continued to scan the basement, when he heard a quiet cough to his left.

He turned to swing the katana in the direction of the sound, when another pipe above him shattered, drenching him further with an icy blast as something heavy came flying through the darkness, narrowly missing his head and landing behind him with a loud clang.

He slashed out again blindly, katana slicing through the air and amazingly he heard a sharp cry as the blade connected with flesh. Encouraged, he gave another swipe, and again found his target judging by Sheri’s cursing but in the darkness there was no real way to know if it had only been a flesh would or he’d indeed managed to strike a mortal blow.

He could hear her boots against the wet concrete now, scrambling away from him.

“Got you now, bitch! How do you like them apples?!” He laughed, giving another blind swing of the katana, and while this blow proved fruitless unlike the others, he was determined to change that as he gave chase through the darkness, determined to catch up with her and end her, now.
