Maybe not as broken as you think.

The words this . . . man, if that's what "He" was, had laid out to him were certainly appealing to hear. The idea of being free from his chains and possibly that place too was a thought that he might be willing to do a lot for in order to make it a reality.

He was somewhat wary of those words too though. Wary because of the fact that this Sincentius was there in the first place. "He" spoke of the chained man's enemies, but if "He" was there, was it possible that "He" was behind the chained man being sent there in the first place? And what about those cumbersome chains that were now attached to the cement? Had "He" caused the chains to do that or was it something else entirely? The chained man had a feeling that "He" caused that.

He tried to pull at the chains, tried to rip them free from the cement, having done that once before when he'd first been placed in the chains. They didn't give at all though and he achieved nothing other than breaking into a small sweat. Of course, before, the chains had also been attached to an already crumbling stone wall. Even the weakest of individuals likely would have been able to pull the chains free from that eventually.

With many questions going around in his head all at once, the chained man decided to ask the one that seemed most important at the time, trying to maintain a balance of neutrality until he was sure of what Sincentius' intentions were. He'd dealt with too many backstabbing assholes to just simply accept anyone's offer of help without question.

"If you're so powerful, then why the hell are you here? Just drop by for the scenery?"

Struggling against the chains again, they still refused to give any. He already disliked being in the chains period, but to be further restrained was a nightmare and that was saying a lot in a world the felt a lot like a nightmare already. It made him want to, as Sincentius had said, wrap them around his enemies. And he had a lot of enemies he could do that to.

The chained man looked at Sincentius, not exactly having much else to look at in his current position, eager to hear more despite his questions and wariness.
