Never Far Behind
A quick search through the company's massive information database told Derrick Scrivens exactly who owned the warehouse and for what purpose. It didn't tell him why Deadblood and Sheri Stull disappeared into a frozen egg roll warehouse for over two hours. One thing he was certain about though was that they weren't there for egg rolls.
"CR-0006, get a closer look at this warehouse. I want to know what's going on in there." The cyborg let out a monotone affirmative in response.
Ever since they pulled into the fenced in property, no one else had arrived or gone. There were no cars in the parking area near the road. There were no delivery trucks. The only sign that anyone was inside came from whoever let Deadblood and Sheri in through the gate.
CR-0006 started to get out of the car parked on the side of the road, a little ways down from the gate, in the opposite direction they arrived from. When Deadblood's motorcycle, followed by an unmarked van, drove towards the gate, the cyborg halted, just observing. Deadblood and Sheri were on the motorcycle again. The cyborg tried to capture an image of the driver of the van, ending up only with a partial image of the side of his face.
Scrivens was conflicted. He still wanted to know what was inside that warehouse that kept Deadblood and Sheri busy for two hours, but he also wanted to know where they might be headed next with that van.
"CR-0006, never mind the previous order. Follow them." Another affirmative before the cyborg got back into the car.
Scrivens could always send CR-0006 to the warehouse again after Deadblood and Sheri went to bed that night. She was usually in bed by 11:00 or 12:00 AM. Sometimes he went to bed with her, sometimes he stayed up for another hour or two.
