Do we have the capacity to make fire? Most humans have enjoyed that privilege since the stone age.

Sheri had to yell at Deadblood to stop playing with the grapple gun two more times before the pizza arrived. There were no further misfires at least. He would have tried to use the grapple gun to answer the door, except Sheri ran to the door and threw it open before he had the chance.

"Put that damn thing down already before you shoot your eye out," she said after she paid the delivery man and shut the door. She walked off to the kitchen with the pizza, forcing him to follow her if he wanted to eat.

Reluctantly, he left the grapple gun on the coffee table and got up. "If you're nice, I might even let you try out the grapple gun."

"I think I'll have more fun watching you try to use it." She flipped open the box and grabbed the first slice.

"What's that supposed to mean?" She stepped aside and allowed him to have a slice too once she made sure he'd set the grapple gun down. "I know what I'm doing with it."

"My broken vase says otherwise." She started to eat, moving to stand at the table and sort through that day's mail.

A short time later, they were in the garage picking out what they wanted to take with them to test that night.

"We should probably find a better way to store these weapons soon." DB picked out one of each type of grenade.

"We're not having a Batcave built under the house for you, Champ." Sheri loaded shotgun shells into the belt she bought to go with them.

"Well, I didn't mean that, but now that you mention it..." He made sure to grab his katana as well. He never left home without it. He got his mask too, but didn't put it on just yet. "I just meant that we should make this garage a little more secure and organized. Maybe a big rack on one wall for our weapons. My motorcycle can still be parked in here then. Maybe a new car for you too eventually."

She became a bit more interested in what he was saying at the mention of a new car.

With their new, high-tech helmets on, they got onto his motorcycle and headed out.

"I guess you've got somewhere in mind for where we can test this stuff at uninterrupted?" She was checking out her helmet's features while he drove, cycling through the face plate's vision modes and discovering that it also could be used as a camera, for photos and videos, though a memory card was needed for it to work. She could hear some police chatter over her helmet's scanner. Nothing significant was occurring at the moment.

"We'll head to the East side of the city. Plenty of abandoned buildings. I don't think anyone will bother us there." Stopping at a red light, he reach up to mess with the dial on his helmet too.
