It's the first time the customer ever high-pressured the salesman. I figure roughly... your car plus seven hundred dollars.

Deadblood didn't speak to her again for a while longer. Sheri wished that at least the radio was on, hating the completely silence outside of the car's new rattle, but she didn't dare touch the button, with her hands or invisible touch.

She finally broke the silence herself after they'd been driving for over half an hour, far beyond the time it would have taken for them to just drive back home. "So I'm guessing you have an idea for ditching this?"

"Yep," was all he said in return.

She almost started yelling at him for being so short with her still, changing her mind when he turned off the highway into a wooded area. The headlights revealed a dirt road that led deeper into the woods. He drove slowly, carefully, coming to a stop a couple minutes later.

"Get out." Using the button on the keys still in the ignition to pop the trunk, he got out himself. She hesitated for a moment before getting out too.

"What is this place?" She had trouble making what laid in front of the car beyond the still shining headlights.

"A swamp. There's a sinkhole in it. Most people don't know about this one. I learned about it a few years ago, actually right before our little trip to Colombia." He moved behind the car and lifted the trunk door to remove the bags of shoes, setting them on the ground, before shutting it again. "Now help me push this. Hell, I should just let you push it by yourself. You'd have an easier time than me with those powers of yours."

Whether she used her powers or not to help, Deadblood didn't know, but they both eventually got the car pushed into the swamp where it quickly disappeared beneath the surface.

He turned his back to the swamp after the bubbles from the car stopped. "Alright, let's get out of here."

"I'm all for that, but how?" Sheri asked. "We just sank our ride."

"We walk." He pointed back along the dirt road. "There's a bus stop about a mile from the road. We'll catch one and take it back to the city. Before we go home, we better look for a new vehicle. We're going to need something to chase The Driller in."
