Fifteen minutes later, they were out of there.
"Thanks again," Deadblood said as he waited in the dealership's driveway for a break in the morning traffic.
"Just remember this when it comes to getting my new car, Champ." Sheri had one arm wrapped firmly around him, her other handing clutching the bags of shoes close to her body.
Once they were on the road, he resisted the urge to see just how well it handled under high speeds. Not with her on the back without a helmet on either of them. If he was by himself, it'd be a different story. The dealer tried to sell them helmets. He said no several times. He already had a few helmets at home, which would probably get him a scoff from her after all of his jokes about her shoe collection. He was sure they could make it home without regretting that decision. He certainly didn't feel like doing something else that could result in another chase.
When they arrived home, Sheri dropped the bags of shoes on the floor by the front door and headed upstairs to immediately fall asleep. It was uncharacteristic of her to just leave something like that sitting around. He wasn't surprised however since they'd been up for almost exactly twenty-four hours at that point.
Deadblood didn't immediately join her in bed. He first got on his laptop and found a detailed map of the city. Printing off the four pages it took up, he taped them together before taping it to a wall near the dining table. After they both got some rest, some planning would need to be done beyond hoping for a chance encounter if they wanted to stop The Driller themselves. With a red marker, he put an 'X' over the locations of the first two banks robbed.
Finally joining her in bed almost an hour later, they both slept well into that evening.
