You don't want to go fooling around other folks' property. If some folks don't like it... they don't mind showing you.

Deadblood only took a few more steps before holding both bags of shoes in one hand and spinning around to scoop Sheri up over his other shoulder.

"Fuck you, Deadblood! Put me down!" She squirmed, trying to slide off, but he already had his arm around her to keep her in place.

"Oh no, you're not going anywhere." He started walking again, now moving along the edge of the highway. "Besides, I don't want you stepping on some broken glass. You might not be able to wear your new shoes anytime soon if you do that."

"Put me down, god dammit!" She started swinging her legs, hoping to kick him.

He moved his free hand up and swatted her ass to make her stop. "If you keep that up, I'll have to pull you over my knee for some more."

She gave up after that. At least it'd give her feet a rest.

The bus stop was empty when they finally reached it. Deadblood set the bag of shoes down next to the bench before setting Sheri down. She straightened her clothes as he sat down on the bench.

"Put your feet in my lap and I'll rub them for you." He looked up at her, waiting.

She frowned before sitting down anyway. Swinging her legs up, he began to gently massage her bare and now somewhat dirty feet.

"It's almost 2:30 now. Not sure how long we'll have to wait for a bus at this time of the night, but even if it arrives soon, it'll probably take another hour to get back into the city." He focused on one of her feet at a time, alternating between them every couple of minutes. "Once there, maybe we can find a diner and grab breakfast. By 8:00, the dealerships should start opening."

It was just past 4:00 by the time a bus showed up. It was empty except for the driver. By then, Sheri's feet were feeling a bit better and she decided to wear one of her new pairs of shoes. She would have preferred going barefoot the rest of their time out, but she wasn't sure she wanted her bare feet touching the bus floor.
