Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh, my God. It even has a watermark.

After making several, more exciting deposits over the course of the afternoon, Deadblood and Sheri lounged on the couch, watching TV, just waiting for an update on The Driller. Surely he’d strike again tonight, and hopefully he chose the bank they’d figured was next.

“You’re sure you can track the phone, Sheri?” She nodded, wrapping a leg around him lazily.

“Absolutely sure. I’ve done it before when I left it at a bar and couldn’t find it the next morning. Gotta love technology.”

“Seems crazy, but in this case I definitely agree,” Deadblood gave her leg a pat, eyes still on the TV. An old giallo was on, and he was getting quite drawn into it despite it all. He hoped The Driller had the decency to wait until it was finished to hit the next bank. “I just hope he takes the bait.”

“Oh, he will. That was a Tag Heuer. No way he’d pass that up.”

“Tag Who?”

“Tag Heuer,” She repeated, groaning at the confused look on his face. “Fucking expensive watch. I just hope we get it back. It cost me a ton.” She simplified for him, forgetting that Deadblood wasn’t exactly brand savvy outside his own interests.

“Why would you spend so much on a watch? Crazy.” She sniffed.

“Why would you spend so much on a motorcyle? It’s quality.” He shrugged, having given up by now on figuring out women and their shopping habits.

Suddenly the movie cut out, earning a quiet swear from Deadblood. Right at the good part, of course.

“We interrupt this broadcast to bring you breaking news. First Premier has been the latest target of a serial bank robber known to police as ‘The Driller’. Cash and the contents of several safety deposit boxes were taken. A ten thousand dollar reward has just been announced by Crime Stoppers, awarded to anyone who comes forth with information leading to an arrest.”

Deadblood turned to Sheri, a determined look in his eyes.

“Well, he did it. Hopefully he snatched our deposit. Go see if you can track exactly where the phone is right now. We’re ending this, tonight.”
